Southall Football Club, a premiere football club of the UK, and Cordia Institutes have jointly established an international football academy at Cordia Institutes, Sanghol, Punjab, here today. Charanjeet Singh Gill, director, Southhall Football Club, and Lord Diljit Rana, chairman of Cordia Institutes, officially opened the Cordia Football Academy here. In his welcome address, Lord Daljit highlighted that this academy will play an important role in channelising the energy of youths in right direction by developing their skills and capabilities, thus, making them a responsible citizen. Charanjit Singh Gill expressed happiness over his association with Cordia Institutes and announced that this academy will be the best academy of Punjab in rural areas. Urmil Verma, executive trustee, said this academy would provide coaching to footballers from junior to senior level under the supervision of an international coach to prepare them at national and international level. The international level grounds and facilities will be provided. Tommy Taylor, a football coach; Amarinder Singh Bajaj, Mayor, Patiala, and president, Chandigarh Olympic Association; Aatish Sharma, a budding football player, Southall Football Club, UK; Arup Das, trustee, IYSA; Varinder Rana, senior Congress leader; players, faculty members and heads of various departments were also present on the occasion.
